Plot Summary: Tyler Oakley is one of the biggest names in Youtube with over 21 million followers across his Social Medias but how did he get from a normal life in his hometown of Michigan to where he is today? In his first autobiography, Oakley walks readers through the important events in his life that reflect his journey to his current success. Well known for making videos where he recalls humorous tales of his misadventures as well as inspiring his audience to enjoy their lives, Oakley tries to help his viewers keep a positive attitude. Now viewers can read new stories never before told in his videos and exclusive to his biography. Join Tyler as he digs up memories from his childhood through to adulthood.

Book Review: An absolutely AMAZING read!!! Tyler Oakley has been a favourite of mine for about a year or so now and I’m sure he'll continue to be for many more years to come. This autobiography is filled with an assortment of different essays about various events in his life such as his birthdays and his dating life. There is even a couple of chapters about his favourite Disney princes and what he would do if he was Beyonce for a day. It’s clear that Oakley is a born entertainer who loves to share his adventures (good and bad) with the world for his viewers to relate to. He also has a way of being serious and talking about moments everyone goes through while also staying completely true to himself.

A large part of Tyler Oakley’s career is about inspiring his audience and fans to help them feel good about themselves and to accept themselves for who they are. Being an openly gay man himself, he is able to reach out to his audience and act as a voice for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer + community. I must admit that I knew very little about the LGBTQ+ community even with having close friends who are gay. I am still learning about the culture and from reading Oakley’s autobiography, I have gotten a better understanding of the lifestyle as well as some of the struggles he himself had to face. I respect the culture even more now after reading this book and think it is very important for more people to read about this culture that many seem to not talk about. Tyler Oakley talks about how love is love no matter who it is between and I completely agree with that. I definitely would like to read more in both fiction and non-fiction form about this community and educate myself with some of the trials people receive for being homosexual.

This was a well written biography that is accompanied by some cute photographs from Oakley’s life. The writing style flowed really well with each essay which helped keep a light mood in each chapter even through the dark and more serious parts of the book. I never felt bored or confused while reading as each page was written in a way that kept me wanting to continue to the next chapter.

Overall; this was definitely a really enjoyable read that had me laughing so hard in one chapter and crying my eyes out in another. I can see why he has such a huge following which I'm sure will continue to grow. This book was simply fantastic as it was both funny and also inspirational. Reading this made me learn more about him and also gave me an insight into the gay community. I respect him more now and appreciate what he does for his people.

Also I read this book a long side the audio book and really feel like I got the full experience of all his stories. The audio book is read by Tyler Oakley himself and is a very entertaining addition to reading his book as you can hear his personality in his voice and can really see that he is the same person like he is in his videos.

I will definitely be recommending his book to my friends.

Star Rating: 5/5 Star!

I hope you all have a wonderful day! Keep Smiling :)
