Book Tag: Fifty Bookish Questions

Hey Everyone,

Sorry for the lack of posts over the last few of days but I have some great posts planned for the next week. Today's post is a tag I found on another book blog called "My Little Book Blog" which is called the Fifty Bookish Questions Tag. This is the perfect tag for me to start off with so that readers can get to know me. If you would like to see the "My Little Book Blog" post that inspired this post, the link is: http://mylittlebookblog.com/2016/01/15/the-fifty-bookish-questions-book-tag/ , so lets get straight into it.

1. What was the last book you read?

I'm currently trying to read the Sailor Moon manga series and so the last book I read was Sailor Moon: Volume Two Manga.

2. Was it a good one?

It was so good!! Way better than the first volume.

3. What made it good?

A lot of the series gets built around the events that get revealed in this volume. It has so much passion and determination from the characters throughout it. There was so many things that made me just love the series all over again.

4. Would you recommend it to other people?

I sure would! Especially if there were people wanting suggestions for manga reads.

5. How often do you read?

I honestly try to read as much as I can but I do get into slumps a lot. So normally I try to read at least for an hour a day.

6. Do you like to read?

ABSOLUTELY!!!

7. What was the last bad book you read?

I don't exactly know what it is meant by "bad" book. There hasn't been many books that I didn't enjoy something about it but also in saying that, there is one book which stands out to me that I just couldn't finish. That was "The Lover's Dictionary" By David Levithan.

8. What made you dislike it?

The format was really interesting but I just couldn't keep up with the plot in that style. There wasn't a distinct timeline of events and I would get really confused about what exactly was happening. I can see why people enjoyed it but it just wasn't for me.

9. Do you wish to be a writer?

Not at all. I can see how hard it can be to be a writer and I don't think I would be very good at it. I would however love to be work with writers and be part of publishing teams.

10. Has any book ever influenced you greatly?

I had to think about this question for a while but one book kept coming to mind. It was a Judy Bloom collection of three stories in one book. It had "It's Not The End Of The World", "Then Again, Maybe Not" & "Deenie" and I used to love reading all the stories over and over again back when I was in primary school. It was lent out to me from my cousin and It is also one of the first books I remember reading at a young age and absolutely loving. I guess it influenced me to continue reading.

11. Do you read fan fiction?

I used to read a lot of it when I first discovered it but not so much anymore. I think its a great way for fans to use their imaginations. I used to just read them to get extra scenes to movies or books that I didn't want to end.

12. Do you write fan fiction?

No I do not.

13. What's your favourite book?

My favourite book has always been "A Walk To Remember" By Nicholas Sparks. There are other books I absolutely love as well but this one is one that I have re-read so many times and still continue to love.

14. What's your least favourite book?

Like question 7, I don't remember a lot of books that I didn't enjoy in some way. The one book I can remember that I didn't enjoy was "Why We Broke Up" By Daniel Handler & Maira Kalman. I have a full review for this book on this blog:
http://louiseereads.blogspot.com.au/2014/04/review-why-we-broke-up-by-daniel-handler.html.

15. Do you prefer physical book or ready on a device (like a kindle)?

I do admit that I do enjoy using my Kindle, especially when I'm travelling on public transport but nothing compares to the feeling of a physical book. Physical books ALL THE WAY!!

16. When did you learn to read?

In school I guess, so I would of been around 5.

17. What is your favourite book that you had to read in school?

Definitely has to be "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. A book I will always remember loving in Year 7.

18. What is your favourite book series?

Not including any of my graphic novel series I've read, My favourite book series would have to be The Legend Trilogy by Marie Lu which I have a full review on in this blog:
http://louiseereads.blogspot.com.au/2014/06/review-legend-trilogy-by-marie-lu.html.

19. Who is your favourite author?

The only author that I have read all their work is Bryan Lee O'Malley, who is a graphic novelist. His work is amazing and I have loved all his stuff. Otherwise, at the moment my favourite author is Rainbow Rowell. I haven't read a lot of her work but I have really enjoyed what I've read so far.

20. What is your favourite genre?

100% Contemporary Romances!

21. Who is your favourite character in a book series?

Scott Pilgrim!!! because he kicks butt.

22. Has a book ever transported you somewhere else?

I guess that is the intention of books although I read a lot of modern contemporary books that are set in today's world. When I read like paranormal or dystopian books, they sure do transport me somewhere else.

23. Which book do you wish had a sequel?

Maybe, Someday by Colleen Hoover. It would make a great series.

24. Which book do you wish didn't have a sequel?

I didn't enjoy the sequels to the Divergent by Veronica Roth. I really liked the first book but it kind of went down hill for me from there. I still overall enjoyed the series but really I just liked the first book.

25. How long does it take you to read a book?

Depending on how much I am enjoying the book and how much time I have to read, it normally takes me about 2-4 days.

26. Do you like when books become movies?

I do actually. I don't watch a lot of movie but if I really enjoyed a book and it has a movie, I will definitely watch it. It helps the story come to life even more.

27. Which book was ruined by its movie adaptation?

Like I said in the previous question, I don't watch a lot of movies and from the adaptations I have seen, there has yet to be any that really disappoints me.

28. Which movie has done a book justice?

So many I can think of but the main one I love is the adaptation of my favourite book: A Walk To Remember which stars Mandy Moore and Shane West. It is a more modern take of the book but it was still an amazing interpretation.

29. Do you read newspapers?

No I do not.

30. Do you read magazines?

I used to read them a lot but they have become really pricey and now you can read articles online. So because of this I haven't really over the last couple years.

31. Do you prefer newspapers or magazines?

Magazines for sure.

32. Do you read while in bed?

I do but not lying down, I sit on my bed and lean against the wall.

33. Do you read while on the toilet?

I do not, or else I would be in there forever.

34. Do you read while in the car?

Not usually when I'm not going far but on road trips I definitely do.

35. Do you read while in the bath?

I'm not a bath person... so no.

36. Are you a fast reader?

I can be but I'm not normally.

37. Are you a slow reader?

Yeah I am most of the time.

38. Where is your favourite place to read?

In my bedroom but generally in a quiet room.

39. Is it hard for you to concentrate while you read?

Not really, as long as I'm not thinking of something else or constantly interrupted, I'm able to concentrate with music and light sounds in the background.

40. Do you need a room to be silent while you read?

I like to read with music in the background, so no it doesn't need to be silent.

41. Who gave you your love for reading?

I'm not entirely sure really. Not really anyone in my family reads but my dad did tell me that my grandfather loved to read and so I probably got it from him.

42. What book is next on your list to read?

Besides the rest of the Sailor Moon Series, I really want to read the Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli. It's a middle grade book about a new girl who is a unique character.

43. When did you start to read chapter books?

I'm not entirely sure, I know we used to have to read them in school so i would assume it would be when I was about 7 or 8.

44. Who is your favourite children's book author?

Dr. Seuss for sure because he is absolutely amazing.

45. Which author would you most want to interview?

Probably Stephanie Perkins because her books make me so happy and I would love to talk to her about her characters.

46. Which author do you think you'd be friends with?

I'd love to think that I would be friends with Giovanna Fletcher because we share similar interests and she is such a wonderful person with a positive spirit.

47. What book have you re-read the most?

I've mentioned it twice already but A Walk To Remember is one of the only books I reread. It helps me get out of reading slumps.

48. Which books do you consider classics?

I guess books that have been around for a really long time but are still relevant to today's culture.

49. Which books do you think should be taught in every school?

It really depends but I would really love to see Alice's Adventures In Wonderland By Lewis Carroll taught in schools simply because it is a great book for all ages and it is one of my favourites.

50.Which books should be banned from all schools?

I don't think any books should be banned from being brought into schools by students but there may be some books that are inappropriate for schools to have like in libraries such as Fifty Shades Of Grey By E.L James. I don't have anything against people reading it but it just wouldn't be appropriate for schools to have. In saying this, students should be free to read whatever they please.

Well there is my answers to the fifty bookish questions. If you would like to do this tag be sure to send me a link to your page on any of my social medias which are linked at the top of the blog. I would love to read your answers.

Hope you're all having a lovely day!
